About Me

Larry lived in Brazil for a period of nine years, one year as a Rotary Exchange Student in Belo Horizonte, two years in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil where he worked in business and industry, and six years in Rio de Janeiro where he taught English as a Second Language and did literary and technical translation on the side. In his spare time, he writes novels under the pen name of Darian Land, works on the family genealogy. and uses digital photography to restore old family photographs. He also takes current photos to update the family genealogy.

My Experience

Larry Gordon lives in Seattle, WA. He has worked in Brazilian Portuguese for over 30 years. He lived 9 years in Brazil where he worked in business at Ornato S.A. in Serra, Espirito Santo, Brazil in their export sector, and industry at Companhia Vale do Rio Doce as a technical translator at its pelletizing plant located in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil. Later he taught English as a Second Language in Rio de Janeiro at the BRASAS school in Copacabana and Centro Educacional Notre Dame where he taught American Literature and English grammar.He has also taught Beginning Portuguese as a Foreign Language and Business Portuguese at Arizona State University. He is a member of ALTA, the American Literary Translator's Association.
